BIO ART

Born in 1978 in Ghent, Belgium.
Resides and works in Jabbeke, Belgium.

Femke Vindevogel, °1978 Ghent, Belgium, is a contemporary artist and writer/poet from Jabbeke. She works mainly with acrylics and paints as she writes: from the perspective of a detached observer, inspired by the small moments of beauty in everyday life and often with a dash of humor. She paints antropomorfic portrets of everyday objects and gives them an meditative presence. These contemperary still lifes take on architectual proportions, and are painted from distorted perception, saturated with emotion and stilness; they wrestle with imperfections, but also show resilience. Vindevogels work is often autobiographical and acknowledges the vulnerability of our existence. She seeks out the intimate and fragile in her compositions, the small formats, and the choice of materials.

Vindevogel studied Fine Arts at Sint-Lucas in Ghent and Painting at the Academy of Ghent from 1995 to 2007. Since 2008 she has worked near Bruges.
